Marco Esquandolas
Hello! My name is Ben Summers. I am a full-time student at St. Vincent College near Pittsburgh, PA. In between frantically programming for my computer science labs and coming up with paragraph upon paragraph of increasingly far-fetched literary analysis for my Computer Security and English majors, I enjoy listening to music and writing about what I listen to. I’m a independent and alternative music fan but I enjoy a variety of other musical genres. I can remember listening to Howard Jones, R.E.M., and Jane’s Addiction while sitting on my father’s lap as a five year old so if I wasn’t born a music fan, I was certainly raised to be one. I am an avid live music fan and have had the pleasure of experiencing concerts in many different venues across the country according to wherever the Air Force has told my family to live. Some of the most memorable concerts I have been to are: Reba McEntire, The Magnetic Fields, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Phish, Bright Eyes/Dawes/M. Ward, R.E.M/Modest Mouse/The National, Brian Wilson, They Might Be Giants, My Morning Jacket, The Dead Weather, P.I.L., Fleet Foxes, Drive By Truckers, Wallflowers, and Kyuss. Yeah, my musical tastes are kind of all over the place.
Everything on this blog is written for fun as a way to share the music I have enjoyed for years or are just discovering, to practice writing, and to think more deeply about the music I enjoy and why I enjoy it. I also play bass guitar in a college dorm-room-basement band, which is like a garage band but with less class, called The Auctioneers of Poverty.
